Our 1.2080 cold work tool steel (also known as AISI D3 or Cr12) is a high-carbon, high-chromium alloy engineered for demanding production environments. It delivers exceptional hardness and superior resistance to abrasive wear, making it an excellent choice for highly stressed cutting and forming tools. Compared to other steel grades like 1.2379, this material contains higher carbon levels while omitting molybdenum and vanadium. This specific formulation ensures maximum surface durability and excellent dimensional stability during complex heat treatment processes.

By strictly controlling the chemical composition, our AISI D3 tool steel achieves remarkable surface hardness and prolonged edge retention. The high carbon and chromium content ensures continuous performance against severe abrasive wear during heavy-duty operations. This specific formulation guarantees a high compressive strength, preventing deformation even when subjected to intense pressure. It excels in various cold-forming tasks over extended production cycles without compromising structural integrity.

Maintaining precise measurements is critical for precision parts and stamping tools. Our Cr12 steel plate exhibits minimal distortion during rigorous heat treatment procedures, maintaining strict tolerances for critical tooling components. We carefully manage the production route utilizing advanced electric arc furnaces and electroslag remelting processes to eliminate internal impurities. This results in a cleaner microstructure that directly contributes to consistent performance, uniform hardness, and overall material reliability.
Due to its outstanding abrasion resistance, this high-carbon steel block serves perfectly for high-volume blanking and punching dies. It is highly effective when processing various thin materials in fast-paced production lines. The robust nature of the alloy extends the lifespan of shear blades and scrap cutters, significantly reducing maintenance frequency. Tooling engineers consistently rely on this grade to maintain sharp cutting edges under continuous mechanical stress.
This versatile alloy is widely adopted for manufacturing durable forming tools, including thread rolling dies, drawing dies, and cold extrusion tools. Beyond standard metalworking applications, our material excels in specialized processing machinery such as press tools for ceramics and pharmaceutical tablet moulds. Its natural resistance to crushing and surface degradation ensures long-term operational efficiency. It provides exceptional stability for critical precision parts like gauges, guide rails, and measuring instruments.
